Checking if your PC is Windows 7 compatible

After the Windows 7 RC was released to the public earlier this week, many users are unsure if their PC is capable of running Windows 7.

As per the official website, minimum system requirements for running Windows 7 is pretty light.
Minimum System Requirements for Windows 7

- 1GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
- 1 GB of RAM (32-bit) / 2 GB of RAM (64-bit)
- 16 GB of available disk space (32-bit) / 20 GB (64-bit)
- DirectX 9 graphics device with Windows Display Driver Model 1.0 or higher driver

But how to be sure if your PC is Windows 7 compatible?

Microsoft has released a beta version of the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. It’s simple and a no-brainer. This is a utility that you can run on your Windows XP or Vista machine to determine whether your system is ready for Windows 7. Basically, it checks your computer’s memory, processor, storage, and graphics hardware. It will also check for known software compatibility problems.

If your PC passes the test, the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor will tell you. If not, it will attempt to provide steps you can take to get your computer ready for Windows 7.
